Job Description Summary

This temporary position will provide animal care at large canine facility at New Bolton Center Campus. Cleaning/disinfection of kennel runs or cage holding areas on a daily basis. Maintain animals and facilities to be in compliance for various inspections (ex. IACUC, USDA, AAALAC). Administer medications as directed by veterinarians. Monitor animals after procedures. Must be extremely observant to animals needs and report issues to senior staff.

Position located in Kennett Square, PA (Chester County). No public transportation available to this location. You must have your own transportation.

Job Description

Duties will include:

  • Cleaning and disinfection daily of primary animal enclosures

  • Basic animal husbandry procedures. (nails, weights, baths, meds, etc..)

  • Maintain ancillary physical facilities. (clean labs, trash removal, mop hallways, etc.)

  • Special feedings

  • Monitor animals after procedures

  • Assist with transport of dogs to satellite facilities. (VHUP)

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is preferred. One year of experience with animal handling is preferred. Ability to lift over 50 lbs. on a routine basis is required

Ability to bend, crouch, climb ladders and do physically demanding work on a daily basis is required. Ability to work well with others and work independently is required. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail required. Temporary part-time position, Saturday and Sunday 7am-3pm (plus any additional hours as agreed by both staff member and RDS management). Ability to work flexible staggered work schedule and assigned weekends and holidays is also required. Valid driver's license is required.
