Job Description Summary
This position will assist in the management of multiple clinical trials and responsibilities in specific research area. Coordinate the screening of patients, subject enrollment, collection and storage of biological samples and related study documents, and collection of clinical data. Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) filings and inquiries, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and research related presentations. Works closely with the Principal Investigator, manager, and study team to identify problems and develop solutions. Implement approved changes to procedures as needed and monitor results. Responsible for study coordination for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects.
Research coordinator will form part of a team that will work collegially to carry out the study protocol. Duties will include recruiting and retaining study participants, data collection and management, ensuring fidelity and uniformity of the intervention, and contributing to the research process with ideas and problem solving skills. The research coordinator must be detail and accuracy oriented as well as personable and flexible. The research coordinator must also be willing to travel to complete research visits at participants’ homes. Candidates familiar with the University City/West Philadelphia area a plus.
Contact and screen research subjects – Identify potential study participants via EHR and contact them either over the phone or in in-person approaches at clinics. Screen potential participants by administering a series of breathing tests and questionnaires.
Consent subjects, administer questionnaires, perform breathing tests, ensure participants are compensated, and maintain follow up communication with the participants.
Carry out intervention protocol. As a Community Health Navigator (CHN), the research coordinator will assist participants to follow asthma treatment plans and navigate the health system. The CHN will accompany the participant to medical visits and help the patient carry out tasks before, during, and after the medical visit. The CHN will also visit at the participants’ homes to further assist with asthma care management. The CHN’s specific duties will vary according to the patients’ needs.
Data entry and data management: ensure data is logical and appropriate, resolve data queries, ensure that all research documents are appropriately filed and organized.
Assist with compliance with IRB: participate in writing, completing, and submitting documentation when modifications are made and when deviations need to be reported.
Attend research meetings with team members, participating sites, co- investigators, and oversight committees.
Perform additional duties as assigned
QualificationsBachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
