The Lauder Institute invites applications for the position of full-time lecturer or senior lecturer. This position will support our International Studies Program in two academic areas. Primary responsibility is to oversee all aspects of the Lauder core course “Global and Regional Analysis,” inclusive of lectures in one of its three modules, outreach to module-specific faculty, grading, student advising, and leadership of module wrap discussion sessions. The three course modules are: (1) Historical Drivers of Global Change; (2) Comparative Politics and Regional Political Economy, and (3) Global Governance, International Trade, and Law. In addition, the right candidate will support the Lauder Institute’s Global Knowledge Lab through student advising and some administrative support of its M.A. thesis research and writing program, especially as it relates to M.A. thesis advisor outreach and support, and student on-boarding, advising, and milestone tracking. This full-time position also requires participation in curriculum development and internal meetings, plus attendance at events organized by the Institute on and off campus.

The right candidate will have the following minimum requirements: (a) PhD in History (any sub-field) or Political Science (comparative and/or international politics or political economy); (b) expertise to teach in one of the above three modules as demonstrated through research and/or existing syllabi. For module 2 above, regional area of expertise may include Africa, East and/or Southeast Asia; Europe, Latin America, MENA, or South Asia; © experience advising undergraduate and/or graduate students in field research and/or academic writing; (d) indication of administrative abilities; and (e) excellent teaching ratings.

The strongest candidate additionally has no less than three of the following qualifications: (a) prior experience working with Masters’ level students in a professional degree program (e.g. Business, International Affairs, Law, Public Policy); (b) prior experience working with an international student body; © indication of teaching experience in a highly diverse, possibly interdisciplinary environment; (d) advanced proficiency in languages other than English; (e) field research experience; (f) demonstrated ability to convey complex theoretical concepts to non-specialists and (g) familiarity with Canvas or other course management software.
