Job Description Summary
As part of the Penn GSE Payroll team, this position is primarily responsible for processing payroll.
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for processing and supporting the payroll function for over 900 individuals. This position is primarily responsible for processing payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees, including staff, faculty, temps, student workers, etc. The incumbent will be also responsible for assisting with recruitment duties such as posting job requisitions, coordinating with hiring officers, and ensuring that onboarding are completed. Occasionally, this individual will assist with visa processing, organizing temporary staff hire requests through the temp agency, and processing POs/invoices accordingly.The payroll coordinator serves as one of the main points of contact for employees regarding payroll policies and benefits. This position processes a heavy volume of requests on a regular basis and serves as a backup to the Associate Director.
A high school diploma and 5-7 years of experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Must demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy in processing.
Demonstrated experience in processing a high volume of transactions on a regular basis
Have experience working with sensitive and confidential information.
Must have strong customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience executing administrative duties successfully
Ability to organize and prioritize a high volume of information
General knowledge of FLSA (wage and labor laws) strongly preferred
Previous payroll processing experience
Experience with Workday
