University of Pennsylvania Research Associate in Department of Physiology in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Department of Physiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

Responsibilities may include conducting independent and collaborative research, as well as preparation of manuscripts and supervision of students.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to receive mentorship in grants writing and grants proposals suitable to early-stage academic investigators.

Expertise is required in the specific area of cardiomyocyte protein synthesis and translational control. A strong record of original peer-reviewed publications, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills is also required.

Candidates should have expertise and demonstrated experience in super-resolution microscopy, protein synthesis assays, live-cell imaging, biochemical characterization, and in high throughput and high resolution image analysis including but not limited to particle analysis, segmentation, particle tracking, and colocalization.
