Li-San Wang’s lab and the Penn Neurodegeneration Genomics Center are hiring a Senior Research Investigator (SRI) to develop a comprehensive genomics and population health data collection for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD) research. The SRI will take scientific lead to develop the data collection from various sources for ADRD genetics, genomics, and health economics and population health research. Working independently, the SRI will also analyze these data to identify genetic risks and biological pathways of ADRD using data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence algorithms. Example data sources include human genetic, phenotypic, and functional genomic data, genome annotations and other biological knowledge; population surveys and biobank data; datasets for health/socioeconomic and public policy research, and other relevant datasets. The SRI will take scientific lead and work with a team of data managers, programmers, research coordinators and collaborating scientists to (1) interface with research collaborators to identify scientific strategies and respond to data needs; (2) survey relevant literature and data sources for relevant datasets; (3) acquire, reformat and manage datasets into a high quality, easily accessible data collection on a secure, shared cloud environment; (4) develop databases, meta-data, workflows, and tools to facilitate analysts in linking and analyzing these data. The SRI will also analyze these data to identify genetic risks and biological pathways of ADRD using data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence algorithms.
